Akira Club

Many serious manga and animé fans cut their teeth on Akira – one of the first and certainly most popular Japanese titles to hit the west. The sub-title of this weighty hardback tome is ‘The memory of Akira lives on in our hearts’, and for many, that must be a great truth.

The book is a companion to the comics, crammed with illustrations and extras that western fans probably won’t have seen before, because they were either printed in the original Japanese comics and not the western reprints, or they haven’t been published before.

Definitely one for the fans and of little consequence to those who don’t already own the Akira books, it’s nevertheless and beautiful homage to Katsuhiro Otomo and his famous manga.
