Running a media empire can’t be an easy job. But when your media empire is, in fact, merely a front for a covert war you’re fighting against an evil pharmaceutical corporation, things get even more complicated. This is the backdrop on which Ayre Force is based, a fictional world (in case you hadn’t guessed) based around real entrepreneur Calvin Ayre and his multi-faceted entertainment company Bodog.
Like all good undercover agents, Bodog Entertainment’s recording artists, poker players and wrestlers are always on hand to drop their everyday activities (singing, folding and grappling) to apply their talents to Ayre’s over-arching cause to bring down his evil drug-dealing rival. But can such media tie-ins make good comics? You’ll have to read it to find out.
