Forever Nuts Classic Screwball Strips: The Early Years of Mutt & Jeff

There must be something in the air at the moment – there seems to be a healthy appetite for classic early 20th Century newspaper strips that’s causing publishers to raid the archives for classic comics that haven’t seen the light of day for decades.

The latest into the fold is a hardback collection of Bud Fisher cartoons collecting, as its name suggests, the early years of his Mutt & Jeff. Starting in 1907 in the San Francisco Examiner, Mutt & Jeff captured the popular slapstick comedy of the day and turned Fisher into a millionaire celebrity.

Now we can all see what the fuss was about, with the 400 or so strips collected in this volume.
