The latest book from Vertigo Crime takes us into the Mexican desert, where women are turning up murdered and the local authorities seem to be turning a blind eye

PREVIEW: The latest book in Vertigo’s Crime imprint is a gritty, seedy, noir story. Simon Oliver and Jason Latour take us into the Mexican desert, where women are turning up murdered and the local authorities seem to be turning a blind eye.

Private detective Jack Cohen is commissioned by a beautiful aid worker to track down a missing girl, and soon finds himself embroiled in a shadow world where life is cheap and money, sex and politics are entwined in a whirl of corruption and vice. With skeletons in his own closet, Cohen looks set to uncover secrets that he’d probably prefer to know nothing about.
