Straight after the Infinite Crisis series, DC Comics’ superhero titles skipped a fictional year and dropped us back into the action a year later. This is the collected edition of the first Superman story, which sees Supes returning to Earth after 12 months away, to rescue it from a bizarre alien who’s stealing landmarks to sell to other planets.
Perhaps the strangest thing about the book, however, is that the original story only ran to three monthly episodes. So the rest of the book (over a third of it, in fact) is padded out with stories from Superman’s past, in which he’s teamed up with lesser-known heroes from DC Comics. Interesting enough, but if you think it sounds like a bit of a cheat, consider yourself forewarned.
