John Byrne’s original revisionist history of Superman continues in The Man of Steel Volume 5. First printed in Superman and Action Comics circa 1987, Byrne’s run on the titles brought Lex Luthor to the forefront of Superman’s adversaries, and was written by Byrne and Marv Wolfman, and illustrated by Byrne and Jerry Ordway. In this volume we also see Superman taking on the unpronouncable (and almost as hard to spell) Mr Mxyzptlk and Batman’s arch-nemesis: The Joker.
