Father Cotton Chronicles, The

We’re seeing more and more illustrated books popping up that, while certainly not comics, bring a level of visual depth to prose and may be of interest to some readers. Those who appreciate art will undoubtedly find The Father Cotton Chronicles worthy of note, as its illustrations are a cut above the norm.

Created by three graduates of fine arts degrees, this is a collection of six short stories about a priest called Father Cotton. However, he isn’t an ordinary priest of the Sunday mass and a few baptisms variety, but a soldier on the front line of the fight against supernatural evil, performing exorcisms and casting out demons.

The artwork is compelling, with each picture designed to stand as a piece of art in its own right. The book has been partly funded by the Arts Council.
