Batgirl: Destruction’s Daughter

In the world of Batman, becoming a teen sidekick to the Dark Knight is fraught with obvious dangers: more Robins than you might care to think about have come to grizzly ends; and Barbara Gordon, original Batgirl and daughter of vigilante loving Commissioner Jim Gordon, had something of a sticky moment with the Joker in Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke (now back in print as part of DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore).

The latest Batgirl, Cassandra Cain, is not so much a sidekick as a square-in-the-face-knock-out-all-your-teeth-kick. Her father, David Cain, is a deadly mercenary, which might explain some of Cassy’s rougher genes. But who was her mother? In Destruction’s Daughter she’s determined to find out but can she survive an encounter with her secretive mum?
