Rogue Planet

Sometimes it feels like the world is against you, but imagine what life might be like if the world is intelligent, and really doesn’t want you treading on it. This is what’s facing the crew of salvage craft Cortes in Cullen Bunn and Andy MacDonald’s Rogue Planet.

Rogue Planet cover

We’re used to stories of human space explorers covering vast expanses of the void, only to end up landing on a planet and coming a cropper in the hands of a hostile alien race. However, in Rogue Planet it isn’t the inhabitants that are the problem, but the planet itself.

The planet in question is called the Lonely Orphan, a rogue planet that’s careering through the universe without having been captured in the orbit of star. Its unique intergalactic geography make it rich in natural resources of immense value to humanity, so a lightly-crewed salvage ship called Cortes is sent to bring back its wealth. Trouble starts when the planet itself turns out to be something of a honeytrap for a dark, ancient, alien intellect.

Written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Andy MacDonald, the Rogue Planet graphic novel is due for release from Oni Press on 3 March 2021.
