Secret Six: Six Degrees of Devastation

Gail Simone’s Villains United was one of the better volumes in the recent Infinite Crisis series of superhero graphic novels, doing a good job of culling a significant number of fairly insignificant super-villains. The Secret Six are straight out of this series – a group of characters who had been villains, but now walk the line between crime and justice. However, in this first volume of the series, the team find one of their number kidnapped and on death row in North Korea, and must rescue them from their fate while also working out who’s behind it.

With its ‘heroes’ proving to be morally ambiguous, especially when compared to the standard company of DC Comic’s superhero characters, this series should make entertaining reading for those who don’t mind investing in a few new superhero characters.
