The origin of the superhero comic isn’t as clear cut as you might think but editor Greg Sadowski does a fine job of curating this collection of early heroes. Taking 20 early stories from classic comic creators like Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, Joe Schuster and Jerry Siegel, he shows us where the roots of the superhero lie, and what these early action comics looked like.

Supermen has been lovingly brought together, and is a great showcase for the work these creators were producing between 1936 and 1941. What came next has gone down in history – this rare insight into the minds of the creators is like watching the ancestors of Superman and Batman paving the way for the future generations.
