I’m not one to push an endless stream of Kickstarter comics but I’ve seen a copy of The Empties (which may have it’s name changed to Maneater) and, while I haven’t read it in its entirety yet, it’s peaked enough of my interest to make it worth pointing out to you.
The story, written by Kristen Gorlitz, is a no-holds-barred homage to ’80s horror. An airborne infection causes people to start eating each other, but Gorlitz’s story focuses sharply on a few already dysfunctional characters, digging deep into their humanity to add further insult to their cannibalistic misery.
It’s over 150 pages and beautifully illustrated in black and white by Eli Powell. At the time of writing, the project is 72% funded and only needs a few more backers to push it over the line in eight days or so. If you like horror comics, it might be worth backing.
