The sequel to the highly acclaimed Kampung Boy, Lat’s Town Boy is the continuing story of Mat. A young boy in 1960s Malaysia, Mat has moved from his village to a boarding school in Ioph, a growing industrial town. It’s an alien place for a boy brought up in a world of agriculture but it allows him to experience new things: busy streets, modern music, art and love. With many full-page, landscape illustrations, this almost has a newspaper-strip feel to it, though the humorous story unfolds throughout the entire 200-page book.
