With original Batman and Detective Comics damn near impossible to find and even harder to afford, it’s always a joy to see some serious comic heritage getting a well deserved reprint. This is the second volume in the Batman: Chronicles series, which is doing the astounding if somewhat bonkers job of reprinting all Batman stories, in chronological order, starting from the very beginning. This volume contains Detective Comics 39-45, Batman 2-3 and a special: Batman and Robin Visit the New York World’s Fair, covering most of the Batman stories published in 1940.
