Another of the ‘one year later’ books, where DC Comics re-started its superheroes in the post-Infinite Crisis universe, this volume examines the state of the original superhero team – the Justice Society of America – now that it’s had to bolster its numbers with heroes who look more likely to be lining up at the post office to collect their pensions than battling supervillains.

Perhaps it’s apt then, that the enemy here turns out to be the Gentlemen Ghost, who summons the spirits of the aging heroes’ loved ones in an attempt to destroy the society once and for all. Can Power Girl hold it all together?
