My Brain is Hanging Upside Down

We all have mornings that make us feel like our brains are hanging upside down but most of us manage to snap out of it with a quick shower and a cup of coffee. David Heatley solves (or is that just documents?) his brain problems by turning them into comics, with simple depictions from his life crammed into the tiny panels that make up the bulk of this autobiography. Heatley doesn’t shy from revealing everything about his psyche, charting his family history from his great-great-grandparents to the birth of his children, and interspersing it with detailed analysis of his sex life, his attitude to race, a guide to his parents and the illustration of his dreams. This is a fantastic insight into the mind of the artist, in the grand tradition of alternative American comics.
